COMMENTAIRE OFFICIEL DE LA MAISON PAUL JABOULET AîNE - DEGUSTATION JANVIER 2002
1999
'Very ripe style. Smells and tastes like licorice, and borders on being raisiny but, oh boy, is this a thick, rich, and creamy Rhone red. Full-bodied, inky black and very tannic, delivering lots of fruit and lots of oak, this is a big Syrah.' (90) WINE SPECTATOR 09/ 2001
'Full ruby. Very ripe aromas of kirsch, blackberry and bitter chocolate. A rather fruity style with modest density but very good vinosity. Perhaps not quite as gripping as the '98 but finishes with rather suave tannins and good length. (86-88) STEPHEN TANZER’S INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR 02/2001
1998
'Red-ruby. Black fruits, licorice, shoe polish and herbs on the nose. Dense and fat, with good delineation and grip. Good structure. Finishes with notes of black cherry and shoe polish.' (87/88) STEPHEN TANZER’S INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR 02/2001
“Bottled October/November. Quite a full, meaty example. Plenty of rich fruit. Ripe and with plenty of depth and staying power. Very good. From 2002.” CLIVE COATES MW – 07/2000
1996
'The aromas and flavors are ripe in this 96 Crozes, with lovely red berry notes but also a distinctive raisiny and plummy character. Full-bodied, with sweet tannins and a supple midpalate that turns quite crisp on the chewy finish. Needs time. Best from 2000 through 2005.' (85) WINE SPECTATOR 10/1998 |
